Our plans for this year had been to go with the flow again and it was a good plan apparently as 2013 started out with most shows and competitions being cancelled due to either snow or excessive rain! 2012 year was a hard year to top but I don’t think we did a pretty good job with 2013!
Rhea (Waldwiese Carpe Diem at Astraios) has done us all so proud, she started her year by qualifying for Crufts at her first Championship show of the year, won overall best yearling at ringcraft matchnight, Best in Show at Latchingdon and even better she won Best of Breed over Kodi’s Reserve Best of Breed at Horley Open Show and all before turning 20mths. Better than all of that though has been the progress Rhea has made in her field work, she ended 2013 having experienced her first days rough shooting, steady to shot and happily retrieving. Rhea has competed in several agility shows during 2013 and has come close to her elusive clear round on several occasions, however she has unfortunately been held back by lack of experience as we have only attended a handful of agility lessons during the whole of this year due to other commitments. Rhea has also now gained her intermediate trick dog title.
Kodi (Morpheus Ruler of Dreams at Astraios) continued successfully in the showring this year with more well deserved placements including a Best of Breed (including a group shortlist) and a couple of Reserve Best of Breed’s (beaten for BOB by Rhea on one occasion!). Agility competition was still his main focus for this year and he was 3rd at his first KC competition (he also gained half his required points for his KC first warrant over the only couple of shows he did), he gained numerous wins at UKA competition and now only needs 2 points to move from Beginners to Novice in performance. As with Rhea, we continued the field work training throughout the year and Kodi also ended 2013 with his first successful days rough shooting under his belt!
