1st UK title holder, 1st Longhaired Weimaraner & 1st Weimaraner and only the 7th dog overall to do so!

Hello and welcome to my website where I hope to share my experiences with my first Weimaraner, a longhaired lad named 'Kodi' and my second addition, in 2012, Rhea. My affix is 'Astraios' and it is owned by myself but shared in spirit also with my daughter Gabriella as without her it would not exist.
Kodi was our first dog, who up to the date that this website went live (within his first 2yrs of life) forayed into the show world (qualifying for Crufts in both years of Championship showing), attended and was placed 3rd in his first Working Test (Special Beginners) at 15mths, took part in obedience (he is a bronze KC Good Citizens holder), attended HPR training and represented the Longhaired Weimaraner at the International Festival of Falconry 2009 both in the Sporting Dogs meet & greet tent and both parades (the 'Gundog parade' and the 'All Nations closing parade'). Since then he has gone on to win 1st place jumping at his very first agility competion (an in-house all heights combined), he has also won numberous Best of Breed and Reserve Best of Breed awards and in October of 2011 gained his TDCH title (Trick Dog Champion) in "Do More With Your Dog!" trick dog titles.
It has been a steep and interesting learning curve owning a Weimaraner (something I'm sure every first time owner will agree with) and not without its ups and downs but what you get back from these grey ghosts you get back ten fold, they are the most amazing dogs to share your life with! Kodi is a larger than life character and every trainer to meet him says he has huge potential to do whatever we want to do with him, he is an affectionate and gentle soul who is at his best around other gentle souls.
In 2012 we were lucky enough to be blessed with a new addition to our kennel, Rhea. We cannot thank Lois and Claire enough for trusting us with one of their precious babies from the long awaited full longhaired litter out of Meemo (Grand Ch Waldwiese Y Would You). We have no idea what Rhea's future will bring but we are looking forward to finding out.....
Who says you can't have beauty and brains?

What's in a name?
Astraios Translates literally as 'Dawn of the Stars'

Astraios (or Astraeus) was the Titan god of the stars, planets and the art of astrology. He is also associated with Aeolus, the Keeper of the Winds.
When trying to find a kennel name, more than anything, I wanted a name that would connect to our very first and very special Weimaraner 'Kodi'. Kodi's official Kennel Club name at birth was 'Morpheus Ruler of Dreams' therefore, what could be more perfect than Astraios! I also loved the extra connection to the winds, as Weimaraners belong to the HPR (Hunt, point, retrieve) section of the Gundog group and so the decision was made.
In April 2010 I was granted the name and in May it was officially published and finally in September 2010 I added the suffix to Kodi's name and he became 'Morpheus Ruler of Dreams at Astraios'. He now officially not only rules my family's hearts and dreams but a kennel of his own.
